Meg Goodman
Co-founder and ED/Vice-Chair

Meg Goodman grew up in Houston, Texas and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas.  After receiving a degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology, Meg went on to practice biology at both the private and state level with her last position as the Texas Parks and Wildlife state bat biologist.

Toward the end of her biology career she was feeling the pull to do something more humanitarian and found the Caritas Community Advocacy Program.  It was here that she learned more about the refugee situation in Austin and was completely inspired when she met Johnson Doe, Paul Tiah and Assefar Tamer in this class and heard about their cause to give back to the refugees here in their community.

Meg continued to learn more about refugees by working directly with refugee families and teaching refugee ESL through Austin Area Intereligious Ministries, which she continues to do today. She also continued to learn more about the non-profit field by sitting on the board of Zephaniah Community Development Corporation/Texas Pie Kitchen and is currently completing her certificate in Non-profit Leadership and Management through Austin Community College.   Meg is honored to be working towards creating this organization that she truly believes in and is blessed to share her life with John and their 4 cats in beautiful South Austin.
