  • Current Needs:

Cotton Fabric for our sewing program
: Refugees from across cultures come together each Saturday to learn to sew and make clothes and accessories for themselves and their families. Cotton fabric of any length and style is always appreciated and is an ongoing need.

    Bicycles
: Transportation can be difficult for many refugees as buses aren't always readily available at certain hours and locations. Bicycles provide another option for transportation for both adults and children. If you have any bikes in good working order to donate along with bike accessories such as helmets, bike locks and lights please let us know.

    Community Center
: MRC is seeking a community center to call our own. We are grateful for the use of shared spaced with Foundation Communities but this is only for a few days a week. We would like to offer our programs 7 days a week and are seeking a place in the North Lamar/Airport to Rutland community. If you know of a place that would be suitable please let us know!

    Job Resources
: Due to the economy, jobs for all Austinites are difficult to come by. However, they are especially difficult for newcomers when they don't have an employment network they can tap into. Refugees are legal to work in the United States and come with a variety of skills and backgrounds and are all eager to work. If you know of any job opportunities in any kind of industry please let us know.

    Funding
: MRC has operated up to this point by the generous donations of a few individuals. It is through these generous donations that we are able to do all of the great work that we do. Please consider making a donation today to help fund our programs.

We are also looking for donated computers and sewing machines.

Please contact us at info@mrcaustin.org if you have any of these items you would like to donate.

We are also searching for potential employment opportunities for refugees. Refugees settled in Austin come from a variety of backgrounds- many with advanced education and professional experience.  Many bring a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.  If you or your employer know of any opportunities please contact us at info@mrcaustin.org.
