MRC's Interpreter Training program offers two levels of skilled trainings, designed and led by Esther Diaz:

Introduction to Community Interpreting teaches methods for consecutive interpretation and sight translation in community settings.

Medical Terminology for Interpreters teaches vocabulary for common disorders of the body systems and methods for consecutive interpretation of medical dialogues.

Our goal for Interpreter Training is for refugees to earn a supplemental income while also providing a critical link to their communities and to the City of Austin through language access.

Whenever we need interpreters for other MRC programs, such as our New Leaf Refugee Agriculture Program, we hire directly from the trained pool of graduates of the interpreter program.
