Co-founder and Executive Director

Meg Goodman Erskine is the co-founder and Executive Director of Multicultural Refugee Coalition and has been blessed to call this her life's work over the last several years since it's inception.

Meg grew up in Houston, Texas and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas and hasn't left since. She received her B.S. in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology. Following graduation she went on to work as an endangered species biologist in Central Texas and went on the work for 5 years as the Texas State Bat Biologist for Texas Parks and Wildlife which brought her to many exciting places all over the state of Texas.

As this work was coming to a close she was searching for what was next and met Johnson Doe and Paul Tiah at a Caritas Community Advocacy Training. They shared their vision for a long-term refugee driven support network and asked her to get involved. Soon after they met Sarah Stranahan at an African Society of Austin event and have worked as a great team ever since as MRC has come into being.

Meg enjoys sharing her life with her husband John and their 4 cats and dog in beautiful South Austin. When not working you can find Meg hiking, reading, cooking or at the local Farmer's Market.

To her "MRC is a place where we can provide a warm welcome to a city that we love. I love seeing the connections that happen each week at MRC across cultures as refugees learn new things and share with one another. I love the diversity of programs that make up MRC from an exciting soccer match to a new skill that is learned- all with the hope of creating a community that feels like home".
